Night at Kalinga Beach
Kalinga Beach is located about one hours drive from Visakhapatnam A.P. (aka Vizag), named after the Indian Naval Service settlement in the neighbourhood called INS, Kalinga. With artificial sand dunes created to avoid sea flooding to the neighbouring naval settlements, the beach looks majestic, yet pretty deserted. One may spot the colored boats of the fishermen from a distance, but apart from them, there are hardly people around to notice. About a few miles long people less beach is quite a cool place to sit and read a book. Crabs are every where around the beach.
This night shot was quite an experience. Standing for over an hour to take long exposure shots, with huge crabs crawling all around you, and knowing that there aren’t people for a few Kilometers to call for help in case of an unexpected incident, is rather daunting and creepy. But again, when this shot came to life, the scene describes the actual view in a totally different light : skies lit up with bright Vizag lights in the distance, shows colors that were invisible other wise to the eye.
