Pangong Tso Panaroma
Situated in the Himalayas at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft), Pangong Tso is the world’s highest brackish lake. It is about 134 k (83mi) long and extends from India to Tibet. The line of control between India and China passes through the lake, and the location is disputed.
It is a five hour long drive from Leh to this location, and permits are required before one enters this location. But the drive is well worth it. The road to the lake is incredibly diverse ; from snow capped hills, to plains, frozen lakes, and a variety of animals : yaks and other can be seen grazing in the fields. The majestic Himalayas can’t be missed, Seagulls, sparkling greenish – blue colours of the lake and the clear blue sky above, makes one forgot of the way.
Chilli winds, and ice cold water made it a little difficult to take a lot of photos, but I did take a few nice ones.
The Panoramas were the highlight of the set. They in no way do the justice to the scene, but yet again, they cover most of the view around, and capture the true colors of the lake.
